This is a poem that i submitted for a poem contest about Mylapore, its temple, its culture.

I chose to write about Mylapore temple. Here goes the poem

I came around your shrine for everyone’s well being and

you gave a boon that was never asked, singing your praise

You settled in this place to breathe the refreshing beach air

Even after your temple was demolished, thy conquest remained intact

Is it to give us a hair-raising experience in mylapore by your presence,

that you plucked Brahmma’s head and satiated your so-called anger??.

O Lord Kapaleesha, the stage play you enacted(refers to establishing himself in Mylapore) and every other act of yours shall be realised later ,just like the lessons you taught us and the way you brought 63 Nayanmars into the temple.

(According to the author’s imagination here, the Lord brought the 63 Nayanmars to stay alongside with him in the temple to later celebrate the arubatthimoovar festival held every year)

O drinker of poison,my heart stays with you all the time

I seek refuge in you, prostrating myself at your feet

Poem 2:

This poem is a draft that i wrote initially for the contest, but later submitted the above poem for contest entry

The way it is spoken in kannaDa is entirely different..

Instead of asking கி்ளாசில என்னா தூங்கிண்டா இருந்தாய் is generally asked in kannaDa as க்ளாசில தூங்கிண்டு இருந்தெயா, different from the tamil way.

There is a classic difference here…
11. nALaikkum ingadAn_E iruppa? – AmA. ingayE dAn_ iruppEn_.
nALEnU illE irtIya? – haudu, illE irtIni… Same rule as above applies.

Please learn to use baraha and the kannaDa script too. It would make it easier to learn.
